1. Introduction

Welcome to Nigel Camp. Your privacy is of utmost importance to me, and I am committed to protecting the personal information of my visitors and customers. This Privacy Policy outlines how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in compliance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as amended.

2. The Data I Collect and How I Use It

I may collect and process the following types of personal information:

  • Enquiry Data: when you use the contact form on my website, I collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), what your project is about, and your message. The form is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check that processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information to confirm you are a real person. Your enquiry is then sent to my email inbox by Resend, an email delivery service. The website itself does not store your enquiry.
  • Client Data: if you hire me, I also keep the contact, billing and payment details needed to agree, deliver and invoice the work, including a postal address where needed for invoicing.
  • Technical Data: my website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, approximate location (based on IP address), and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. I do not use analytics or tracking tools on my website.

I use this information to:

  • Reply to your enquiry.
  • Fulfil my contractual obligations to you, such as delivering services.
  • Comply with legal obligations, including tax and consumer protection laws.
  • Improve my website and services based on your feedback.
  • Provide customer care and support.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical or security issues, including spam.
  • Send marketing communications (where you have provided consent or where permitted under PECR).

I process your personal data only when I have a lawful basis, such as your consent, a contractual necessity, compliance with legal obligations, or my legitimate interests (such as replying to an enquiry you send me). I may also rely on the new “recognised legitimate interests” lawful basis introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 where applicable.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

My website does not set its own cookies. Some pages include videos embedded from YouTube (owned by Google) and Vimeo. YouTube videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and Vimeo videos are set to “do not track”, which limits what these services collect before you play a video. Loading a page with an embedded video still sends your IP address to YouTube or Vimeo. When you play a video, YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies and collect data such as how you interact with the video, under their own privacy policies. One blog post also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when you view it. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings at any time. Under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, certain low-risk statistical and functional cookies no longer require consent.

Note: The maximum fines for breaching PECR have now been increased to match UK GDPR levels (£17.5 million or 4 % of global annual turnover).

4. Sharing and Disclosing Your Personal Information

I do not share or disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: trusted third-party service providers who are contractually obligated to protect your data. These are Cloudflare (website hosting and the Turnstile spam check), Resend (which delivers contact form enquiries to my inbox), my email provider (GoDaddy), and others such as payment processors or IT support where needed.
  • Legal Obligations: when required by law.
  • Business Transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Your Rights Under the UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

6. Data Retention

I retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy or to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For example, I only keep enquiry emails for as long as I need them to reply to you. If your enquiry turns into a project, I keep the emails that record the brief and its history as part of my project records, for as long as UK law requires. I may retain invoices and business records for up to 7 years for tax purposes. When your data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

7. Data Security

I implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption and secure servers. However, no system is completely secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of the services I use, such as Cloudflare, Resend, Google (YouTube) and Vimeo, may process your personal data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, I ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in line with UK GDPR requirements.

9. Privacy Policy Updates

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements or my practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. I encourage you to review it periodically.
